URBAN WORKSHOP "COLUMNA, FROM OBJECT TO CITY"
AURELIAN WALL-WALK ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN WORKSHOP

ROME ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 2
Fall 2011 - spring 2012
University of Arkansas Rome Center
PALIMPSEST STUDIES - The projects focus on three distinguished, but interwoven, phases of study:
- inventory
- analysis
- interpretation
By drawing a series of existing conditions in Rome, we were engaged in observing and documenting the physical presence of the city and build a rigorous inventory.
Through analysis research, we were able to acknowledge the underlying principles of organization that order and give meaning to the considered whole .
Through interpretation transformation and adaption of the analyzed sites, we were able to learn from the use of precedent and a series of architectural rules (canons) to be applied within the architectural design process.
